Have you ever seen a glass swimming pool?
Cool down in a beautifully designed acrylic pool or pool with acrylic windows!
Add some excitement to your backyard with an acrylic pool or an acrylic window in your swimming pool. This modern design element is highly desirable for great reasons. Acrylic swimming pools are also known as glass pools that look like aquariums.
Acrylic pools and swimming pools with acrylic walls or windows are very popular in swimming pool design trends right now. Most pools with acrylic are raised, rather than low in the ground, but there are a lot of design options to add acrylic to swimming pools.
Acrylic Pool Design Options
Acrylic window built into the side wall of the pool. The image on the right includes an acrylic window in the area where the pool adjoins to the outdoor living area and the top of the wall serves as a bar top.
Another acrylic option, is to have the sides of the pool as long acrylic pieces with structural columns to support the weight of water in the pool.
Acrylic spas. These acrylic spas can be a variety of shapes, including circle or square, as shown. The acrylic spas are overflow and appear to be floating in the pool. LED strip lights add an exciting depth to the spas that can be seen at night.
Acrylic Pool Considerations and Construction Challenges
Acrylic wall pools require coordination with a structural engineer and attention to detail. The 2.5” thick pieces of acrylic must fit perfectly into slots within columns to maintain the structural integrity and prevent leaks. Depending on the layout of the yard, acrylic has been craned over the house for installation because of the weight. The good news is that we know how to do this and have built several acrylic wall pools.
